Loose Knobs and Awkward Mode Button

I have no idea why my machines are all **** up (recent SP1200 post, and the MPC 60 fuse issue), but 2 of the knobs on my MPC 2500 are very loose, if I turn it upside down they fall off.

The mode button is also being awkward, I have to give it a harder tap in the center to get it to work.

Are these common issues? I'm tempted to swap one of the "after" buttons with the mode button to see if that solves it as I use the mode button more than the after button. I hope to God it isn't a sensor issue.

sounds like a dying tact switch. A pretty common issue, the default tact switches aren't very good quality (assuming they're the same as in the 1K, otherwise, it's just a switch that happened to die) and the contacts can get dirty/oxidized.

you could try deoxit, or just replace the switches with higher quality ones, there are threads about those solutions somewhere.

might be worth going and replacing them all, while you're at it.



the knobs, I dunno.

I dont have any experience with pots, tact switches for most part...but looks like there is a thread around the mid base of the pot. maybe all you gotta do is tighten up the washer that screws on top and they'll feel tight again

I'm pretty sure the mpc doesn't use the threads on the pot, if it has them. they're just attached to the pcb, with a knob on top.

So it's just the plastic knobs falling off the pots? Could you use a bit of tape on the pot shaft to get a tighter fit?
