hardware / voice upgrade

anyone know if it is conceivable to upgrade the hardware of the 2500, perhaps with hardware from the 5k?

obviously it would involve soldering work and a corresponding os upgrade.

I am not an electronics guy, so please excuse if it is not even the same platform

I just have to ask, why bother? Even if it were possible, you would need both instruments. At that point, why not just keep and use the two samplers?

Buy an MPC4000, or use an S5000/6000 or Z4/8 with the MPC2500.
