Internal MIDI channel: Can it be changed?

I'm more familiar with the MPC4000, z4/8, and other Akai S-series samplers. I own two S950s and one S2000. I also own a MPC500, MPC 2000XL, MPC2500, and a MPC4000. Here's what I hope to do...

MIDI channel #1 -> S950

MIDI channel #2 -> MPC2500

MIDI channels #3,4,5 -> MPC4000

MIDI channels #6,7,8 -> S2000

I know that the MPC4000 can be set up similarly to the S2000 because you can create multis within it. Yet, it seems that the other MPCs can only respond to MIDI channel #10 to control their sounds, which is the General MIDI channel for Drums.

Here's my question. Can the MPC2500's internal MIDI channel be changed to another MIDI channel, other than channel 10, if I want to use more than one MPC when creating music? I hope to do this with all of my MPCs. It would be easier to have 64 sounds per midi channel, per MPC, for any purpose. (i.e. beat samples, sound effect samples, etc)

Sorry, I tend not to use VSTs because of having to make sure they are VIRUS proof.

Controlling synths and samplers via MIDI is basic mpc functionality, you can set the mpc to output to whatever port and channel you choose on any available track.

You can have MPC behave like a multitimbral sampler with JJOS OS-XL or JJOS 128XL (for the XLCD)/OS3. It's called "multitimbre" mode.
