Trouble assigning samples to pads

I just bought a used MPC 2500. First time using a sampling machine. After i've chopped my sample and try to assign the slices to the pads, the samples mash together. For example I'll assign sample 1 to pad 1 and sample 2 to pad 2, but when I hit pad 1 it plays both sample 1 and 2 together. How do I seperate them?

If you're using "EXTRACT" to chop your sample up, you need to assign each extracted chunk to a pad (PROGRAM window - assign the samples as normal).

If you're using the "chop shop" and slice it up into 16 chunks, you should see an option to assign your chopped sample to pads in a new program. Your MPC will automatically create the program and assign your slices to pad 1-16 (or more!) without you doing anything special.
