I not really that worried about learning how it works because I realize thats gonna take time and youtube is my best friend right now. But I do have numerous extremely basic questions on setup. What will I need other than the MPC itself to sample? How do I hook up a record player? Is using a computer strongly advised? What the hell even is MIDI? Can you sample CD's?
Would appreciate help, thanks.
You will need a computer to export your completed projects on. Midi is a Musical.Instrument.Digital.Interface. (like an MPC Ren)
You could set it up with a DAW like Pro Tools or Logic and record your sequences there directly if you choose through midi. This comes in handy because you can record completed sequences from your MPC or you can hit record in your DAW and record w.e you play live as your playing it on your MPC.
As far as sampling you can sample w.e you have hooked into to "RECORD IN" on the back of your MPC.
Also, yes you can sample CD's either through a CDJ hooked into your "RECORD IN" inputs, or you can sample cds off the external cd drive you can buy from MPC-Stuff.com.
hope this helps.
