You take the actual files and samples off the mpc 2500 via usb or compact flash and open it in the mpc renaissance software .

You can even open it in the demo software but the audio will time out after a few minutes. mpc-tutor will have a tutorial on his website.

Not locked to the devices fulltime, it can now run without the hardware connected, but the hardware is required to initially authorise the software.

I bounce out to Acid 7 but don't normally integrate my software & the MPC.
I sometime run FX in the MPC but don't re-sample & it would be handy if it could just be tracked out via the normal means.
Maybe thats just me being lazy.

The effects generally suck (as do their implementation) on the MPCs although I do like the ping-pong delay and bitcrusher sometimes... the compressor is not too bad either...

Also, I've found that Q-link sliders and resampling are major time wasters and creative bummers. I prefer to use a real mixer with AUX sends to add effects/automate and EQ my drums.

Here's my signal path:

MPC 2500 ----> 10-Channel snake -----> Soundcraft M12------> Aux send (4) -------> Lexicon MX400 (wet signal)-------> UA Apollo Quad & 4-710d (via SPDIF and line)

With this configuration I can get all of the multi-tracking abilities of the MPC (I run another snake from the Soundcraft's Direct Outs) while keeping all of the wet-signal effects on their own respective channels. This way I can edit the effects in Post as they aren't glued to the snare/clap etc. as inserts. Great when one gets too hyped up on knob rotation. The key is always available channels and the right cables I find.

I totally agree, it just takes so long re-sampling everything.
I do like the MPC effects though. They're so quick & easy to set up, the delay is nice & I really like the sound of the bitcrusher on drums. Iv never used the ring mod or phase shift. Its just a pain to have to keep messing about. It would be dope just to record as is.
I'm gonna have to experiment with some MPC/software combo's myself.
