Midi out messages issue

Hello everyone,

I know sequencing synthesizers with MIDI is an old topic by far, but I promise this won't be a waste of time.

This happens both with my mpc 1000 and mpc 2500.

My first attempt connecting synthesizers to my mpc's, I'm successful. I turn off the mpc and unplugged the midi cords from both devices. When I connect everything back together, the mpc stops sending messages to my synthesizer.

My mpc detects messages from my synth just fine. I can play my drum programs on my mpc, being a slave to my synth keyboard. I tried reading and watching videos about this issue and it seems no one else is having the same problem.

I almost bought a new circuit board from mpcstuff.com but decided to upgrade too my mpc 2500. First time sequencing my synth thru midi Perfect! As soon as I start over again, same issue. My synths do not receive any messages from the mpc.

its your synth or your cable. you can reset your mpc by holding erase and starting the machine.

but seriously, if you try 2 seaprate mpcs and you get the same problem with both, your problem is elsewhere. powers of deduction my friend

Do you have a MIDI interface on your computer?

If so, plug the MIDI out of the MPC into the computer, run a MIDI monitor utility on the computer, and use it to check if there are any MIDI messages coming out of the MPC when you are having the problem.

yeah doesnt sound like a mpc issue, it seems more like a setting that is being changed on your synth.

what you want is to slave your synth, not slave your mpc. dont know if that has something to do with it too.

Maybe also try plugging the synth MIDI output directly into the synth MIDI input, to see if the MIDI data it is sending out is being received OK, and is playing the synth as you expect it to.

Thanks everyone for the advice. This is my first post and grateful for the help.Definitely going to try reseting my mpc because I did switch out the cables with new cables. Haven't tried this yet and excited to go home now.
