The Switch?

I'm not talking about the cats that just got their first mpc, but how many of you guys actually had an mpc before the 2500 and switched over?
Opinions?
Any regrets?

I'm thinking about upgrading from my old school mpc2000 (non xl), but it's hard to part with her after being together so long. I need to weigh the pros and cons cause after I pay off my laptop it's quite possible that I will be upgrading to the 2500. I want to weigh the pros and cons, anybody regret upgrading to the 2500? What do you like/dislike about it, etc.

I've been using mpc's for 10 years now 8 of which we're with a 2000. i have the 2500 and i can say it's great.everything you ever wanted the 2000 to do plus things you didnt think of. i like it more then the 4000 cause its functions are still in the mpc relm. it sounds better then a 2000 for sure. still doesn't sound as good as a 3000 but close.ONLY 1 DOWNFALL!! it can't read .aps .all files. so if you didn't save the programs and sequences individually... you screwed.. other then that is the ish!!!

So you are sayng that I need to go back and save all the sounds for a particular song as a "program" instead of "all sounds and programs"? If that is so then that is what I have to and will do. How do I need to save my sequences? All these years I have saved then as "all songs and sequences"

Tell me exactly how I need to save my material before I get the MPC2500...

Most recently....I switched from an MPC 3000/2000XL to the 2500. The only regret I have is that the 2500s MIDI OUTS C and D are not fully functional yet. But that's what happens when Akai hires/selects Beta Testers that don't actually use MPCs.

Not fully functional? Is this issue being addressed by akai?
I never save my files as .aps or all, i save the .pgm with sounds, and i save the individual .seq files. If those can be loaded just like that then my switch is inevitable and eventual. Most likely this January after Christmas shopping is over. I'm gonna have to sacrifice my moving into an apartment for another two months...

anyway i made the switch about 3 weeks ago due to my 2000kl dying on me. the 2500 having 4 midi outs made my decision to spend that kind of cash a lot easier. I just wished that midi outs C and D worked properly though. overall I have no regrets.

Elliz? what's good playa? MD in the house ( by the way of Mt.Venon, NY for me)....ok...ok....ok.....put me down. It seems like everytime I'm about to go cop the 2500 someone posts something in one of the forums that makes me pump my breaks! Elliz? Explain to me what is going on with the C & D midi ports? Them joints not work right is a big let down cause I would love to have them for multi uses. I know that the up and coming OS will probably correct this, but come on Akai....that is supposed to be something basic that is supposed to work right out the gate/right out the box!!!

Elliz....give me the detailed low down, if you don't mind, on the problem you have been having?

What is the current OS that icomes with the MPC2500, BTW?

basically the notes wont release properly. i'm sure (hoping) that the 1st os update will fix this issue though. it really is a let down that the those midi outs don't work the way they're supposed to. but like i said, i have no regrets, it's still a great machine.

This is supposed to be fixed on the first update which is in the works. it is supposed to be released after christmas so that means january or feburary.

Damn Akai...those Gaylord Fockers can't never get it right with their development of opearting systems. Idiots...why release a product that they know is still in development. They had the nerve to try to screw Roger Linn out of his royalties! Everything after the MPC 3000 suks. Why do we even bother buying gear from this company. Roland is a much better company and produces better music productions tools like the MV-8000. Akai is just rested on the MPC name. UUUUUGHHHHH!!!!!

I don't agree with that statement AT ALL!!

I have personal experience with the MV-8000, i'll pass. The only equipment i'll buy from roland are the VS workstations and I love my FANTOM X. (these are good machines, don't let anyone tell you different)
