My new 80 gig hitachie hard drive is full??

My PC recognizes "MPC2500DISK (H:)". I started adding files but it quickly filled up at around 32MB, which is the size of the Memory Card.

When connecting to my PC w/o the Memory Card in the MPC2500's drive, my PC doesn't recognize anything but the MPC itself. When I tried to open the MPC2500DISK it wouldn't open. It just said please insert disk.

So, my PC only recognized the Memory Card. Not the 80GB hard disk.

What next?

before u press the usb button u have to use the data wheel to change where it says memory card to hard disk

its at the top of the load or save screen, then u'll be good to go

This is an approved drive..but from reports that I have read..they crash quite frequently..which is why I went with a 40gig Toshiba.

Now...if your MPC doesn't see the drive when you go to utilities....then it may be installed wrong or the HD is bad. The HD should show up when in utilities once it is installed.

Memory Card is the only option in UTILITIES.

I carefully tried installing the Hitachi drive twice now and Memory Card is still the only option in Utilities.

The company I bought the drive from says they test every drive before they are shipped, and if I return the drive and it's not actually defective then they'll charge me extra. It seems unlikely that they sent a drive that doesn't work. So, I assume the drive either got messed up during shipping or it actually does work, but the MPC2500 just won't recognize it.

Not sure what to do here. I need to avoid any extra costs.

It sounds like you may have to order another HD to see if it works...unless you have a partner that has a 2500 that could test your drive.
