Hi there,
I've got a question regarding whether or not to go for the MPC 2500 (or MPC 1000).
I produce techno (think of syle Richie Hawtin) and house (think of carl Cox style). I don't do hiphop.
I work with the Novation Drumstation (for the kicks, snares and high-hats) and the Elektron Machinedrum (for weird percussive elements / additions to the base track from the novation drumstation). In the PC I work with NI Kontakt as my soft sampler. Kontakt is very cool to make weirdness out of ordinary samples, but it not very good in the hands-on live-tweaking department (of course I could record all my movements in my PC sequencer, but it's all a bit too fiddly, i find).
Now I came acrosss the MPC 2500 the other day. I very much like the pads, the time-stretching and some of the other features of the 2500. But on the other hand I am used to programming the beats through my keyboard and the sequencer of my machinedrum.
BTW: I just sold my Electribe SX, because I missed velocity sensitivity and I don't like the stretch. I'm less positive about it than a lot of others are.
Is there anybody out there who can advise me on whether or not to get an MPC 2500 or otherwise a MPC 1000 ? I do like to work with hardware very much, but on the other hand: Kontakt already gives me a lot of possibilities in sample mangling.
I was thinking of just using the MPC 2500 for some tasks, next to the drumstation and the MD (which I would never sell !). Could anybody tell me if this would be sensible in his/her opinion ?
I do'n really care about the costs (just got my 2005 bonus ,hehehe). I just want to explore the new possibilities the MPC 2500 would give me next to the drumstation and the MD.
