Where to buy?

I was wondering if everyone would share where they purchased their MPC's, local stores included, but i'm mostly interested in online sites, as they seem to have the best deals. I tried alto's site, as it was mentioned in another thread, but it's not working for some reason, anybody have a phone number? Also, if you don't mind, the sites where you purchase other items as well, such as cpu stuff/ram/hard drives/compact flash, and even other music gear. I think a massive list of these different sites would be helpful. Thanks.

I'm in the same boat as you, Ziplock. I'm still trying to decide where to buy from once I get my money saved up. I've considered Alto and American Musical. Alto is the cheapest you'll find as far as I know. BUT, I'm seriously leaning towards buying from www.vstservice.com.

You get an MPC 2500 with fully upgraded memory and the CD drive installed, free shipping, and 6 month extended warranty for $2006 (they may be willing to go a little lower, but I don't know for sure). Everywhere I've looked, the CD drive costs about $200 and the upgraded memory costs about $150. So even if you get the 2500 for $1600, you'll end up paying around $1950 once you upgrade everything. Also, from what I understand, the warranty is voided if you install the upgrades yourself.

It seems worth it to save the extra couple hundred dollars and buy from VST. The advantage is you get to keep the warranty (just in case ) and have everything installed professionally. If you're going to upgrade anyway (which I planned on doing), VST seems like the best buy in the long run.

if you can get a price from alto music of $1600, you can take that quote anywhere. everyone price matches their competition.

Even if it includes the upgrades? I can't imagine anyone going that low with extras included.
