Its a gamble.....

At first they were going for $2000 and then dropped for as low as $1580...but are now going back up....$1800-$2000 in many places.

Anything technology related has bugs in it.
If that's keeping you from buying an MPC, then buy a acoustic drum set.

You may see a lot of reports of "bugs" on this forum because this is where all the geeks funnel to in order to complain about bugs and other what nots.

I've had my mpc 2500 for a few months now, i use it on average of 4-6 hours a day, I have not encountered any bugs that have prevented me from making music.

The MPC1000 is another story, that piece of garbage is sitting in its box in a closet in my philly studio. The CF drive on that went bad.

Hmm. I wouldnt worry about the bugs in the OS as they always can fix that eventually...
After owning many MPC's over the years, I would have to say go with an MPC 2000XL. You can find them cheaper and people love them. I spent time with the 2500 and it just wasnt my thing. But dont listen to me, go and try both the 2000Xl + 2500 and see how you feel..See if you can pick up on the vibes!
