I've been transferring files back and forth a number of times today but this time, when i go to safely remove the MPC from windows and click stop i get the following message:

The device 'generic volume' cannot be stopped right now. Try stopping the device again later.

I must have used this function at least 5 times today and this didn't happen. I'll probably just rip the lead out this time but don't want to be doing that on a regular basis, i corrupted a usb flash drive doing that before.

The files i copied from the MPC are all on the computer now so it's not still copying.

Never mind. left it 5 more minutes and all is well.

On a side note, i wish you didn't have to pull the USB lead out of the back of the MPC to get it out of the USB page. It should realise when the connection is stopped and let you go back to the other pages.

A friendly little heads up

Make sure when using USB with XP, if your going to disconnect NO programs are

a) currently using files on your MP
or
b) windows explorer is not displaying the contents of your folders on the MP

I had the same problem with a portastudio and my 2500

even though i had tried removed the 2500 disk from my system tray and there were no windows using the 2500 i still couldn't unplug my 2500. I had noticed that my computer was still highlighted from closing my sample browser i clicked the desktop to unhighlight it then the drive was able to be disconnected.
