Finally bit the bullet and ordered a 2500, going to pick it up in about an hour.

Was going to buy a Fantom but i'm just going to hang on and get the rack version at a later date.

I'm completely new to MPCs and relatively new to production so i'll be knocking around here asking tips left right and centre!

Think i'm going to get Reason 3.0 for sounds too.

Congrats. Reason and a keyboard controller with your MPC will do you just fine. If you dig into Reason, you may find that you may not need the Fantom XR....

Cheers jahrome, i'll definitely have to look at reason in more depth. I didn't pick it up today as i'm just gonna mess with the MPC for a while and learn the basics of sampling first.

Well i must say, the unit as a whole feels nice and solid, the pots and sliders are smooth and the buttons are nice and positive. Only thing i would say could have been improved is the feel of the jog wheel. It would have been nicer with a rubberised feel rather than the notchy feel but it's really not even an issue.

Gotta clear some desk space and i'll get some pics up

I'm struggling already! Can't seem to find anywhere that stocks jack to phono cables so i can plug the stereo out of the MPC into the phono in on my sound card.

I've got a digital in on my sound card and i've hooked that in with a SPDIF coax cable but that's not doing anything either.

I think there's a problem with the digital in on my sound card as i couldn't even hook up my turntable's digital out straight into it.

You may not have you sound card set-up correctly. There may be settings that you have to make with the DSP software mixer (assuming that it has one) that works in conjunction with your sound card. What sound card are you using?

Also..one reply will be sufficient.

lol, sorry about that. I'm using the beta Internet Explorer 7 and it seems to crash loads.

I've opened up my soundcard mixer and the digital in is set to coaxial mode. It also has the little yellow light on the soundcard itself to indicate that the coaxial is in operation.

I've got the digital out from the MPC going to the digital in of the soundcard.

I'm using a Terratec DMX 6Fire, so pretty basic. Trying to look for pics so that you can see the setup but this browser is taking the piss

DO you have the latest/correct drivers for this sound card installed?

Sorted it, i needed to set the master clock to external for the digi in to work.

The manual doesn't mention anything about this!

Thanks
