why has the mpc a tap tempo button?

as stated in the headline: why do the mpc have a dedicated tap tempo buttton? is there a special use in it? besides tapping the tempo...
why cant´t i use one of the pads to tap in the desired tempo? they feel much better to me, why can´t they be used this way. are there any advantages in using a hard klicking button?
and finaly: should tempo tapping on the pads be enabled in an os update (along with the function to tap in the tempo while a sample is looping in trim mode)?

Yeah i think it would be cool but i doubt they'd do it and there are other updates i'd like to see first, auto-chromatic being one of the majors.

However, being able to tap tempo while a sample is looping is almost a must!

I have used MPCs since 1997...I have never used their tap tempo buttons. They can get rid of it.....

Co-sign on that...I only manage to get a rough estimate of the tempo with that anyway...can be done just as quickly manually. Would make space for more useful controls.

I like tapping the tempo out ....gives me a feel for what tempo i m gonna use....I have used MPCs since 1998 and almost always use it...it would be ashame to see it go ...like poor simult did

Actually, I've used my tap tempo quite a lot when working with remixes. I play an acapella (or the instrumental of the song) and tap my MPC so I can get a close read of what tempo my beat needs to be. It comes in quite handy for me. As for the actual tap tempo button, I think a dedicated feature is better than having to open up a window to get to it. I like how it's always easily accessible. I would opt not to take mine out if I had a choice.

if you have to jam with other musicians and sync up to a groove they are already playing

i was playing with a live drummer last week with my crew, the button def. helped me get my part going quickly


not so important for studio use...

when it comes to playing live, for any important function it is good to have a dedicated clearly marked button that doesn't require a 'modeswitch' or prevent you from doing other things

yeah, you can mix your MPC in to the decks with t tempo butt.

do u make sample based music?

It can be used for fast hi hats, drum rolls, snare rolls,ect.. Thats what i make use of it for since i compose rather than sample.

we are talking about tap tempo NOT note repeat

i love hardclicking buttons reminds me of the sp...awww mouth watering..
