Quick Midi question

Just got the 2500 yesterday and hooked it up via Midi with my Fantom X6. I have the MP's Midi OUT A going Midi IN the Fantom. The problem is I want to play my performance on the Fantom but the MP only records it if I play it on the MP pads. I thought by hooking up another Midi cable and running it from the Fantom Midi OUT back into the MP's Midi IN 1 I'd be able to accomplish this but when I hit a key on the Fantom I get distorted sounds. With the 2000 I never had this issue...Is my Midi hook up wrong?

try turning local off on the fantom. i dont have one, but that sounds like it could be it.

I tried that but when I turn local off on the Fantom I get no sound on the MP or the Fantom. There's gotta be something I'm either not doing right or not doing at all...What else can it be?

You do have the MIDI connected right...MPC MIDI OUT to Fantom MIDI IN and MPC MIDI IN to Fantom MIDI Out.

Now...are both the MPC and Fantom connected to a mixer? Do you have the Fantom's audio outs connected to the MPCs audio inputs? Are you using the digital connections? Are you recording MIDI or are you sampling audio into the MPC? Is the MPCs record gain set too high? Is the Fantom's output volume set too high>

I have the Fantom and the MPC both going into the MBox...I use Pro Tools LE to record my sessions. I'm using the MPC as the master and slaving the Fantom through Midi. When I record a melody on the Fantom and sequence it with the MPC it works fine but now I've been trying to change the program and keep the previous sound but it changes the sound. I've tried just about everything and nothing works. Any suggestions?
