MPC2500 and MPC2000XLMCD at same price??

Why? Is the MPC2000XL MCD built THAT much better or what makes it the same price with less features????

I've played with one briefly and dont see what all the fuss about build quality is about.

Apart from the data wheel, which is undeniably better on the 2kxl, the build felt pretty much the same as my 2500.

In fact the xl i played on rattled a bit more than mine

stable OS. (jokes btw)

$1700 was the street price of the the XL-MCD before the 2500 came out; I'm just guessing that companies weren't too enthusiactic about lowering the price of the XL just because a new model came out. It's business, and that's the way it works.

I do agree with you though, an 2000XL-MCD with the FX Card and 8-outs (all retail) would've brought the price up close to $2300, but the 2500 with the FX Card and 8-outs standard costs $2000. Go figure.

Akai sets the minimum advertised prices...which is what you see. However, dealers can sell them much less than that. A butt naked MPC 2500 should go no more than $1800 and a butt naked MCD-XL should go for no more than $1500 (even though I wouldn't spend anymore than $1300).

XL sell for about $1199
2500 sell for about $1600

If those aren't the prices a dealer offers then it's the wrong dealer, look else where.

Let the potentiall buyers know which dealers are the right dealers.....

man when i got my 2500 the people were trippin lol.........they let me have the 2500 for 1400 but said the xl would only go 1700.

I said, retail. Check the prices at musician's friend, zzounds, sweetwater, etc.
