I'm really torn, please help.

Hi,

Im torn between the 1k and 2500.

First off i would like to say that i know this should be in the comparison forum, but as i already know alot about the 1000 (my man has one), my main questions are about the 2500.

1) Do the audio CDs burnt with the 2500 sound good? Im worried that they will sound low and 'thin' as CD's do when burnt with a computer.

2) Is 'Chop Shop' a useful feature?

3) Does anyone sample CDs using the CD drive? How easy is it? Do you prefer just using software on a computer?

4) Which machine would you say gives you more bang for your buck?

I cant compare with the 1000. But I would take the 2500 over the 2000xl I used to have in a heartbeat.


I actually havent burned any audio cd's, so no help there. But, sample cd's are extremely easy to load. Just like loading any disc in a computer or the other mpcs.


Chop Shop is a very useful feature. I use it all the time.


As for more bang for your buck.. I suppose it depends what you're gonna use it for... if youre more computer based, maybe the 1000 is the way to go... if you want to be more self contained, go with the 2500.

Try and have a play with both if you can.

The way i look at it, if you start on the 1000 you'll be happy with it, but if you touch a 2500 you'll probably want to upgrade!

If you get the 2500 from the off you're set, especially if you want to expand with other gear. THe extra midi outs and assignable outs are a big plus.

^ cosign. I have the 1k, used to have the 2xl, and now i got a 2k5 in the mail. i originally wanted a 4k over the 2k5, but didn't have another two weeks to bid on ebay only to be outbid for the 5th time. for me, the 1k is fun to learn & can help one understand the basic components and functions of the MPC, but once you own & become knowledgeable of the 1k and get a chance to play around w/ the 2k5, for me, i immediately wanted to upgrade. just check the specs, it might be worth the purchase? and like my man said, it'll be fun w/ other gear as well. the 1k is fun, small, easy to learn, built like a tank, and very mobile. but honestly, i think you'd be happier w/ a 2k5, because then you won't have to go through the feeling of "man, i should've upgraded". i went through the same ish myself, it's nit fun
