WHat's up everybody. I've been reading these forums for a while and recently registered. USed to use an MPC2k and ASRX, sold them and went PC for a while and recently just added the 2500 to the mix today.

Got a problem that I haven't foound in the search.
When I load a WAV (16bit,44.1) into the MPC, it displays as loaded, but when I preview it it either sounds distorted, I hear nothing, or I hear something equivalent to a hiss. The samples are WAV straight of a sample CD so the levels are not overly hot to cause distortion (it's not loud distortion either. The sound is not loud, but what of what you can hear it is distorted). I was thinking the sound engine may be bad, but the files that are on the 32MB card preview just fine (I think they snd format). In any event I am feeding it a format that is stated as compatible in the manual, but it is not working. Am I missing something??

By the way, I'm running 1.1.

Even the ones on the 32mb card play a hiss and static. I just upgraded it to version 1.1 today. Earlier tonight I wasn't having the hiss problem.

Nevermind, I fixed it. Did a reset as described on another post for a different problem (hold erase on bootup). Hissing is gone now.

Part 3 of this solo thread.

This continues to happen, but I notice it only occurs after I have transferred files to the hard drive a few times. Doesn't seem to happen weh using the CF card though....

power on power off and I'm fine...

Are you properly 'disconnecting' your MPC25k from your computer? I was having intermittant problems with version 1.10, but I haven't seen this in version 1.20.

I'm pretty sure I am. I run a Mac and I drag the drive to the trash before moving off the USB screen on the MPC and use the MOUNT button to reconnect if I need to. IT seems to happen after a few connects and disconnects when doing several transfers. I probably need to just stick to one or two transfers per session, but most of my sample library is on the computer and as I create I think about a sample that would sit well in the mix and connect to get it. Then out of nowhere after one of those transfers none fo the samples play clear or I get a nasty hiss sound when playing them or even playing the sequence.

I haven't upgraded to 1.2 yet because I don't want to get stuck with System Test. I'd rather try to load it using the CF method out the gate, because from waht I read it seems using the Akai method causes problems. Problem with that is if I put 1.2 on my 32B CF and I get ST error, I won't be able to get 1.1 on it (useing what I have) to rollback (I know I can get a CF Reader for the system, but I'm hard headed).
