Samples mess up after copying from pc

This has happened a few times to me now but seems to be intermittent, can't re-create it every time.

Basically this is what i just did:

sampled a track using audacity
saved it as a Wav
Went into USB mode on the MPC and mounted it
copied the sample from pc to mpc
dismounted mpc using 'safely remove hardware' option on xp desktop
Went to load in mpc
scrolled to sample
hit 'play' to audition it

But all i could hear was a harsh screeching noise, kind of like a 56k dial up modem.

I rebooted the mpc and all is ok again, strange.

BTW i was saving to an internal hard drive

Anyone else had this?

I AINT GOT AN MPC YET SO IM only guessing,.. maybe something to do with the sample rate?... i get problems with files sometimes cubase wont play them properly, probaby the same kinda problem.

Thing is though, as soon as you reboot the mpc it plays fine. I think if it was sample rate it wouldnt play at all.

Something may have happened in the transfer. I would try deleting the sample in the mpc and try again, without reboot.

It does sound like bit depth. I may be wrong but I think sample rate would alter the speed of the sample, not to mention a limit on higher frequencies.

For what it's worht, yes I have been getting this recently too. I searched the forum for a prboe, lioke mine, but the words I used ni the search didn't match your description so I started anotehr thread...no one else seems to have this problem..

Now this one has happend to me once. I transfered a bunch of my old MPC 2000xl sounds over and heard that horrible sounds. I erased them then redid the transfer and all was well.

That sounds like a buggy OS or the MPC itself.

when i copied a bunch of samples i had that strange noise, too. i thought the samples were bad and copied them once again, then all played fine. i´ll try to reproduce the error this evening when i come home.

I find that if you switch from cf card to the hard drive while hooked up to the computer this happens not every time but i have had it happen a lot.

I think i only had this problem on 1.0b, haven't had it with 1.1 or 1.2 so they must have fixed it.

The more I get it to occur, what you describe appears to be teh pattern that triggers it the most for me too.

I'm on 1.1 and am getting it. Must have been corrected in 1.2 maybe, not listed in the release notes though.
