MPC Pad Exchange

Hey, just to let you know I checked this out on the Japanese homepage. Unfortunately, the Japanese says that the pad exchage is a "yuryou" service, which means that it costs money. It's now available for all MPC's except the 1000...

Of course it costs money!!!
Depending on the pads you choose it's anywhere from $50-$90 PLUS SHIPPING!

From the original post here, it seemed like this thread was about Akai Japan changing out the pads for free. I guess I must have misunderstood. Anyway, I don't see what the difference would be in having Akai do it or having a 3rd party company do it. Anyway, it's irrelevent because Akai Pro Japan will charge for it. I haven't heard of any 3rd party companies customizing MPC's over here, so maybe that's why they have started the service.

From my contact in Japan, you can order a new MPC 2500 with any of the color pads they have available.

I'll ask the guy at my local music shop if he can look into it. I'm still undecided if I'm going to get the 1000 or the 2500, but it would be cool if I could get different color pads on the 2500 from day 1.

I think Akai should really step things up for customers, no matter what part of the world they live in.

Everyone should be able to get these pads, not just customers in Japan. I would have thought this service would have been more available to people in the US, which (I assume) has the biggest market for MPC sales. Speaking as someone from the UK, we seem to be missing out the most, not being able to get the different colours for the pads and also missing out on the free EXM128 memory offer as well!

You can get pads from www.vstservice.com, they have them in their online store. Since they're a service center Im sure they can install them too.

It's hella easy to install them yourself, too!

do you no if i can have that number you called him with so i can ask him some info on how 2 connect the mpc2500 with a roland JX-305 correctly. cuz if tried but i cant get the sounds from the keyboard saved on my mpc...
