MPC 2500 question (Be kind to the newbie!)

Hello, I'm new to the board but not new to MPC's. I've had a 2000, a 2000xl and a 4000. The 2000 died, the 4000's long gone (because I needed to buy a Roland 2480CD) and the 2000xl is on it's last legs - so I need a new sampler.

My choice is between the MPC 2500 and the Roland MV-8000 and I have a question that no-one in any shop I've been in can answer. Akai haven't answered my e-mails either, but you boys seem like the fella's to ask, so...

Does the MPC2500 timestrech everything in realtime? By that I mean, when I'm playing a finished tune back, does the MPC2500 stretch or compress all the samples and phrases, on the fly, when I adjust the tempo?

P.S. I used the 'Search' function on here and drew a blank so, like I said, be kind to the newbie!

If you change your sample into a patch phrase it will change tempo with the song tempo, but only when the next time the sample is triggered. So yes you can but not really in realtime. By chopping in small increments you can change a samples tempo but not that drastic.

the answer is no. the mpc will not time stretch anything when you change the tempo. needs to be done manually or you could try what he said, but that's not what you were asking about.

An MV-8000 it is then! ...which is a shame because Roland operational logic is a pain in the arse, nowhere near as intuitive as Akai's. Oh well...
