unbelievable freeze

Maybe its his particular hard drive. I couldn't produce this problem. But will continue on working with the 2500. If I produce this problem, I will be sure to post it here.

yes that ass-hole bug showed its face to me too. after spending 2 hours sorting out my samples making pgm and templet sequence ,
went to save all memory in autoload folder and it froze..

only way i find that help is to save to root of memory card first. then to hard drive

Do you have the right Akai memory and recommended hard drive installed?

i think if you want to replicate the bug, you first will have to work with the unit, have it go through at least an hour of regular work. if i just turn on the unit and try to save folders there is no problem. its really after a long while that this bug happens.

That's what I have been doing and will continue to do.

It is possible the problem could be your HD.

I have had this folder bug happen a few times ...saving to the CF card works every time . I have been using the Harddrive as storage only then transfer the folders Via PC

99% certain its a bug and not your Hard Drives??

You do know that there are quite a few people on this site that haven't reported this issue. Believe me, I am not trying to hide your problem. I am trying to reproduce it myself. I plan on leaving my 2500 on all day. Work with it a few hours..try to save...work with it a few more hours...tray to save. I will be sure to post what I find. For me...the CF card is for OS updates and nothing more. I save every project on the hard drive in its own folder.

im 99%sure this is a bug related to the time the os takes to write versus the time it takes for the HD to wake up from seelp.

i have the toshiba 80gb. of course it could be the drive. but since other people have reported the same problem...

So, you are 99% that it is not your hard drives?? Wow. It must be the MPC because a few reported this problem vs it could be your hard drives. You can bet that your MPC will last longer than the hard drive you are writing to.

Well, I will continue to try to reproduce this myself. I have not had this problem. My hard drive is doing fine..it is practically silent during operation. After having my MPC sit for awhile and then using save/load, I can hear the drive start up.

well, yeah, i think its the os that freezes when the hd wakes up. maybe the hd wakes more slowly than it should, and the OS just freezes up instead of leaving it the right time to wake up.

jahrome, you shouldn t take this so personaly y'know? you react like its a personal attack on you everytime someone thinks he s found a bug or criticizes the mpc

I am not really taking it personal. Not at all. But just hanging around these forums (a little too much I might add)..all these so-called bugs are non-existant or can't be re-produced. Most of the time its users error...hell 99% of the time its user error I don't believe this one is the case. But in order to get to the bottom of a problem, you have to exhaust all possibilities. For you to say its 99% a bug when it could be 99% your hard drive is silly. You really don't know. If you swapped out the hard drive with another and produced the same results...that would be a better indication that it is the MPC..or your MPC. If you have noticed, there are only a few people that have responded to this thread vs the numerous people that own a 2500 in this forum. As of right now, the problem is isolated. You logic has concluded that it is the OS...and that you have always had this problem?? SO this was a problem with all the OS? Then you talk about the hard drive waking up. It shouldn't take anytime for your drive to wake up (maybe it is your drive). Did you try waiting a bit to allow your drive to wake up?

Also note..I have nothing to gain (except a fully functional MPC) by getting to the bottom of any problem. I had a problem with my screen going blank after installing the operating system. No one in the forums produced this problem. I had to send it to Akai to have them fix it.

Anyway...you are free to continue to write what you want. If you don't want to exhaust all possibilities..that is your choice. Just chalk it up as a bug with the OS. What ever floats your boat One more thing....did you try re-formatting your hard drive after installing the new OS?

i did for 1.21, not for 1.22.

i would try and swap HD if i could. it could be the HD, 1% chance. hahah

Well, format you hard drive and try again. You just bought the hard drive I assume so it should still be under warranty.

If not, you will have to save to your CF card and hope for an OS update that 3 people out of _____ have found

IT is NOT the Hard Drive. I have the Akai recommended 80G hard drive (Travelstar) and I have had the same issue. So i can tell you it is the OS.
