hello all. ive searched this forum and looked and read and have yet to find someone with a problem like mine. i use the mpc 2000xl for sequencing only. i just got my hands on a 2500 and am trying it out before i commit to buying one. ive installed the latest os and have loved some of the newwest features. my problem lies in transfering my sequence files over to the new mpc. i have a 250 zip drive in my xl and just bought a usb connection for my pc. the pc seems to only read the first 8 characters of the file names. (ive seen this discussed on here before) but i cant change my filenames because they are matched to certain presets in my computer. i have the mpc editor and have used it to "back up" my disks but it makes a mpc file (???) and thats it. i dont know what this can be read by or what the hell to do with it. i guess my question is how have people backed up their zip disks in the past? i know this is dated technology but there has to be a way to not lose this information. and if i could only get my pc to read more than the 8 characters i would be fine. but its putting a major wrench in my productivity and i would like to be helped throught this problem. i have friends that have messed with these types of things and have had major headaches because they had full programs to transfer and so forth. i dont. for me its just all. files. so please someone HELP!!!!!!!!! thanks
