ram not loading

I bought 128 mb ram online it's green and seems to be official and has written on it for the MPC 1000 and 2500. When I put it in it doesn't seem to load, no error warning or nothing the machine just keeps saying 16 MB installed(factory preset). I don't know if I have pushed it in far enough and don't want to break it. Should I see any gold of the ram card when fully installed because I do at the moment?

Please help before I get ripped off from a shop!!!!

Open up your machine again, take out and reseat the ram, after you install it make sure that it's lined up all the way across and seated all the way in, use very little force, not much, it's made to where you don't have to force it, a firm push is enough.

If you still have that problem, maybe the ram stick is bad.

There are two pins(plastic) that hold the ram in place. They should make a clicking sound when they lock in place. They are on the outsides of the ram not down in the area of the gold contacts.

thanks load for all you people that replied. I read your comments and watched the video which was more than help full. felt a bit of a moron after watching it.
