2500's CD Rom Drive

Im a little washy on the info for it, can you actually mix the song onto the cd and burn it, or is it just for storage, files and that kind of stuff??

If it doesnt burn the song, then i have no need for it if i got my usb cable

in short, yes, you can burn your beats to an audio cd.

it burns wav files to cd in cd audio format.

since you can sample from the main outs, all you have to do is go into record mode and play your sequence while recording from the main outs to get a wav file of your beat. then you can burn that to an audio cd.

i haven't tried it yet since i only got the cd drive this week, but i'm pretty sure that's how it's done.

Using the CD/DVD drive makes it more a self-contained unit.

The drive has other functions as well. You can sample from CDs or load wav of CD audio directly into the MPCs RAM. You can also load files stored on DVD-Rs.

Kanye samples off of CDs as well. There is nothing wrong with sampling off of CDs. Hearing a bunch of pops, clicks, and crackles is not pleasing to everyone's ears. It does not make your music any better or more authentic.

Anyway...the CD drive is just a storage and playback medium. Yes, you can do without it. With the USb features and compact flash reader/writer, you could possibly do without a hard drive as well. But I like my MPCs maxed out with all the options....and for new MPC 2500s buyers, the drve is free.

i dont sample off cd's, i like records.. if you clean up the sample and eq it right you cant even tell sometimes, but usually people arnt listening for the crackle of the record on the sample.... at least i hope not
