I currently have a 40 gig Hard drive installed on my 2500, which I recently purchased. My question is, the seller did not disclose this to me, so I went out and purchased 120 Gigs Western Digital 1200 while waiting for the 2500 to arrive.
Do you think the 40 gig will suffice, I also (5 1gig) cf cards I came across, or should I take the Western Digital back for a refund?

take back the big drive. i also have a 40 gig in my machine, and i've loaded it with tons of samples i had on my PC hard drive (gathered over the last 6 yrs or so) and i still am not over 6 gigs, let alone 10.

had i known how much sampling time is in a gig, i would have gone with a 20 gig hd or even 10 gig.

120 is definitely overkill

Good getting a tip from someone who's been there. Thanks
I'll bring it back tomorrow...........
If you plug the MPC via USB to a pc will it recognize the MPC automatically or does it need software?
I think it will be easier forme to transfer samples from my pc to MPC that way...........

Yeah I agree, 40Gb is plenty, especially if you have a PC connected via USB. I have a 120Gb and have still got 98Gb free. Can't imagine I'll ever fill it!

PC recognises the MPC automatically.

I know that your question was already answered but, I wanted to add my 2 cents. I have a 40g HD too and I doubt I will ever use more than 10 to 12 gigs. 120 is way too much! Plus you say you have 5 1g CF cards? Thats plenty! Get your $ back on the 120 and buy something else like the CD/DVD drive for your 2500. And sell me one of those CF cards.
