Strange bug on V1.22 Trim mode.

I'm running the 1.22 OS at the moment and last night I plugged in my midi keyboard to the mpc and the mpc to the keyboard's internal sound module... and everything was working but sometimes The mpc wouldn't allow me to enter trim mode. The pad was responsive but somehow the mode light would just light up when I press it, and turn itself off when I'd press the "trim pad" while staying in the main screen.

No I haven't.

However, can you clarify exactly how you had your MPC connected to the keyboard? Midi cables? Audio cables? Whish keyboard?

ok well, I've got my midi out from my my yamaha keyboard going into slot 1 of the midi ins of the mpc. And I've got the midi out B I think it was of the mpc going into my midi in of the keyboard.

The local setting was off on the keyboard so as to use it's internal sound-module through the mpc.

That's about all I can think about really.

I'll try to repeat it. I MAY have been toying around in sync mode.

So are both the MPC and keyboard connected to a mixer or do you have the keyboard audio going into the MPCs audio inputs?

Also, why do you need to set the keyboard to local off?

sometimes when I config the MPC incorrectly I get a midi loop and this causes similar lag on the buttons. perhaps this is it?

The mpc's audio was playing through my monitors while the keyboard's audio was just being played through it's built-in speakers. Eventually I'll plug the audio out of the keyboard into my mixer.

I turned local off so as to be able to use the sounds in my keyboard's built-in sound-module... am I doing something wrong?

I need to check up on how I had it set-up in the sync mode though. That might've been an issue.

Sync is only used to lock your keyboard's sequencer and the MPCs sequencer. From reading your responses, it appears that there should be no reason why you need to sync your keyboard's sequencer to the MPCs sequencer.

Also, the MPC 2500 has an input thru mode. You can connect the audio outs of your keyboard to the audio inputs of the MPC. Your keyboards audio will pass through and mix with the MPCs audio on its stereo outputs. Using this method, you can potentially get away with not using a mixer and can sample sounds from your keyboard into the MPC. Be sure that the input through of the MPC is turned on if this is a feature that you would like to use.

Yeah, no, I wanted them synced so as to be able to record my performance on the keyboard as a midi track but I also wanted it to play back using the sounds from the built-in sound module... so I've got my midi out from the keyboard to the mpc, midi out from the mpc to the in of the keyboard and set local to off...

and yeaaaah it may have been what dablunt was talking about because I had been messing around with the sync options.

the lag was only on the trim button though.

Usually, when the term sync'd is used with MIDI intsruments, it refers to Midi Clock,Midi Time Code, SMPTE, etc protocals.

So what you are trying to do is a basic function of the MPC...record and playback MIDI sound modules and keyboards. You have everything connected as it should be.

What is the reason why your keyboard is set to local-off?
