going to the studio..HELP (tracking)

first off thanks for the help. I"ve searched the site tons. I've read the books and so on. Also the last time I was in a studio it was SP-1200s and reel to reel so excuse my ignorance.

I know how to freak beats with the 2500 and I am comfortable with most of it features. My problem is multi tracking on a modern studio environment.

say beat 1 has 8 tracks. kick on 1 snare on 2, hat on 3 blah blah.

I have the beat broken down like that on the 2500.

How do I assign a track to an output? is it possilbe to have track 1-8 play via output 1-8?

I know how to assign a pad sound to an output and it seems like that would be a way to do it BUT. Doesn't that defeat the purpose of multitracking the beat on the MPC. IF you just assign each pad to diff outputs then why not just make the whole beat on one track?

can I export the entire track as a WAV to the recording software?

I really apprecite any input. What I'd like to do is assign each of the 8 tracks to each of the 8 outputs, at least that seems like the logical way to do this.

Each sample pad is assigned to an output not the track..however, you can assign a different program to each track. Within each program, you can assign all samples to a single individual output. If you do this to 8 programs that are assigned to 8 tracks...this should produce the results you are after. Plus, with the stereo outs available..you have a stereo or 2 mono outputs that are still available. So you can have 10 mono tracks....or 5 stereo tracks..or a combination of the two...

thanks for that info. Can I just export an entire track as a wav without sampling it via the output of the MPC. Can I hook it via USB to a PC and pull the tracks off the MPC harddrive?

I really don't wanna get into creating new programs and redoing my beats, they are done. I'm just looking for a faster way to get them tracked up than one track at a time. Thanks for the fast respone.

You can not export tracks without resampling. You can resample and save the file to your hard drive and then moved to your PC via USB. However, it is better to just record straight into your DAW. You have 10 outouts to use to track into your DAW.

If you are using external MIDI gear or software insturments, you can quickly compose on the MPC and save as a MIDI file. The MIDI file can be impoted into your DAW for further editing, if needed. And you can assign VST intruments (or hardware) to these MIDI tracks.
