Dunno.
I think what you'll find is that a manufacturer (Akai) will source their chips and chipsets from various manufacturers, so you'll probably find that there are lots of diff types in there.
Within the hardware company I work for the chipsets are updated with every generation of the hardware that is released. That isn't to say Akai are changing them constantly though.
