Mpc 2500 assigning pads

Having a problem assigning a drum sound to the right pad. When I go to load f4 and assign a drum sound to a01 it tells me in the display a08. I've tried everything through akai tech support and nothing works. Please help!

I don't quite understand how that can happen.... through the program mode, press the pad you want to assign the sample to, then scroll to the corresponding sample, and that should do it.

at which point does the screen say it's on "A08" rather than "A01"?

Load F4 is the USB connection?
