Midi and Timing Issue

Lately I've been having this weird problem with my MPC2500. When I make a drum track on the 2500 is doesn't playback what I play correctly. I tried playing with the metronome set at different bpm's and I'm still having this problem. I know it sounds dumb but I had a couple of my boys try to lay down a kick and say just a snare and it would take a while just to get it right. It plays it back really sloppy and doesn't sound what I played on the pads. Also the same issues occurs when I use my Motif XS8 with the 2500. When I get into making a beat, say when I'm on track 7 or so, the 2500 won't play back certain notes. Like if I play C,D, and E, it will skip D and just record C and E. I've already contacted Akai about this and they don't know anything about it. Am I the only person who has had this problem? The only thing I can think that might be the problem with the Motif and 2500 is the midi cables might be bad. The midi cables are 15ft in which I am going to either replace or have this 2500 tested out somewhere.

Have you tried disconnecting all the MIDI from the MPC and trying it straight as a DRUM track. Im thinking that the keyboard maybe sending some MIDI to the MPC which is MTC or clock or something liek that.

I'm going to look more in the time clock with the keyboard and mpc2500 today to see if thats the problem with the keyboard and mpc2500. I'm running OS 1.23 and tried the mpc out with 1.22 again and it was still doing the same thing. As far as playing it on a straight drum track, it does still do the same thing but I still haven't tried it with the midi cables disconnected. This weird problem doesn't happen all the time but it still gets aggravating.

Perhaps it depends on which patch is loaded on your Motif. Whether its sending arp data or drum loops out to your MPC?

But then you should simply be able to disable the MPC midi in to find out if it is or not.

This sounds simular to what I've experience with my 4k, but it was'nt the 4k that was responsible for the goofiness. I use a Roland A-70 master controller and found it to be culprit. It's not a problem because I can still lay down my ideas, but certain setup scenarios or setup configs causes the MPC to hickup or not play right. But as soon as I power the A-70 off...bam! no more hickups, offsets or anything of that nature. I just have'nt taken the time to figure out it out yet.
