recording messes up my beat

hi i need some help, I had this problem when I first started out, havent had it for ages but this morning its happening to me again - i made a beat, and when i go to resample it in record mode thru Main Out etc, it starts to become messed up, samples and drums go out of time, so i just can't record my beat into the MPC without it sounding a mess. Does anyone know why?

After you resample it your going to need to trim off the dead space at the front...maybe this is why it doesn't line up with your original project.

are you using song mode by any chance?

Maybe the Direct Recording feature will help? Include the metronome in the count in, this will give you something audiable to line up the beats.

Actually that would be worth a shot....never thought about using it that way.

hi, im not using song mode, i convert the song from song mode to a track, then play the song whilst recording from the main out in record mode. i dont have any problem getting my beats in time, i do use direct record mode to make the beat. maybe i should have explained a little better - basically, I can have my beat sounding great, convert it to a song in song mode as i normally would, then go to record mode and play the song whilst recording it thru main out. this is what i usually do - altho every so often, i can hear the beat screwing up in real-time whilst im actually resampling it in record mode. kinda like when youre watching delayed dubbing on tv or something - the beats start to slowly go out of time with each other and things start to sound really messed up. i have no idea why but im starting to suspect it is to do with polyphony sounds so im going to check my samples and pads etc. anyway i hope this makes more sense to someone.

are you using a mix of midi and samples?

no i dont use midi, im using the new (jj?) os which a friend told me to upgrade my mpc with a while back. I changed all the pads to "mono" after reading about polyphony mismanagement on this forum. this seems to have helped my problem so thanks, although im surprised that no1 else but me seems to have come across this problem...

btw I changed every one of the pads to mono like I said, and also trimmed all my samples, but im getting the problem of samples and sounds in my beat cutting out when i go to record another layer of drums or something for example. is this just because of the mpcs limited voice support or am i doing something dumb?

I think I know what the problem is. When you create your sequences into song mode it becomes one giant sequence. When you convert into 1 sequence it doesn't copy all the program settings for each sequence.

For example, sequence 1 may have a drum program for track 1. Sequence 2 may have a horns program for track 1. When you convert these 2 sequences into song mode the new sequence will have the drum program setting for track 1 for the entire sequence.
