mute won't work?

OK i'm new to the mpc 2500, but not to mpc's. I have a sequence and I programed some drums with the mpc 2500. I added a basic piano part with the motif xs and also a bass with the motif xs as well. for the bass and piano I set the track type to midi. Here's the problem... when I go to solo the piano... I still hear the drums. when I mute the piano track, I still hear the piano. what's going on.. I KNOW this isn't right. Sometimes it works, and i won't hear the piano, but I can still hear short little "midi notes." What is wrong here? Do i have my midi setup wrong? here's what I have....

active track receive channel: all
soft thru: as track
sequence change by program change: off
pad to internal: on

Yes, it doesn't bloody work. Tell Akai, but I can tell you they don't acknowledge it.

is this a known fact... do you know if it works in the JJ OS version. I can't believe they would make that mistake...

Yes, its a known fact. But JJ OS mutes properly, and IMO the display is clearer for seeing which tracks are muted and which tracks are playing.

You actually can get Akai OS to mute external midi tracks if you set the mute samples to not IMMEDIATE (the other setting which isn't called immediate) on the setup screen (MODE 10 or 9). If you don't want to cut internal samples off immediately when you mute, this would get midi track muting working for you.

I'm good now. I'm using the JJ OS now and loving it. What a difference!!
