MPC 2500 and Pro tools issue

sup ya'll... i have pro tools m-powered 7.1. i have a project mix interface and have an mpc hooked up to the project mix via midi. when i hit play on the project mix the beat from the mpc plays perfectly fine, but recording is where i have a problem. When i record onto pro-tools, the first hit that comes out of the mpc is only partially recorded, and everything else is recorded fine. Anybody know if this is a timing issue and how i might be able to fix it? THANKS!!!!

nevermind... i found info thru the search engine....

just set a one or two bar preroll before starting recording, otherwise daws often swallow the first few samples...
