Question - Tracking

When you guys sync/record your beat into cubase/protools etc... what level do you keep the volume at? e.g -3db? do u monitor the meter or judge by ear?

I usually max everything out to a point where it's recording in at it's highest volume without clipping mix it all down add a limiter to the master
