Damn 8 Outs...

Hey guys, is there any way to bring the tracks of a sequence to the assignable mix-outs?? instead of having only the pads on these outputs. for me this is ridiculous to put the pads on these outputs.

i've got a m-audio 1010 interface hooked up with pro tools m-powered. the 8 outputs of the mpc are connected to the 8 inputs of my interface. so i really like to record the tracks of the mpc via the mix-outs into the tracks in pro tools. like i've got the samples on track 1 and 2 ---> so i want to record the tracks 1 and 2 in pro tools when playing the whole song.

so is there any way to do this??? this really pisses me off....just the pads on the mix-outs...man...

i already checked the manual. found nothing. thanks for your help!

Did you know that when in the mixer screen , when you hold shift you can select multiple pads by hitting them?
You can even hold shift and hit a bank button and it will select the whole bank.
This way setting pads to specific outputs is fast and easy.

And to answer your question , assigning an output to a track is not yet possible .

why people says that with 8 output you can import in separate tracks in one pass without soloing each tracks?

if isn't possible assign tracks to outs are useless

i havent needed this feature, but it looks like you right. i had a little play and couldnt work out a way to configure each output per track. you cant even do it thru different seqs.

not sure about JJ OS, try the JJ forum, but i had a search on their www and found a reference to "8 Audio track. (Track57-64)" which may have something to the eight audio outs...

let me know if work something out as i will have need it for it.

Stop and think for a minute.



It's because either
A) they only have one sample per track
B) they have all the samples of a track (entire PAD bank or Program) assigned to the same outs based on what track they are playing from
C) a combination of the 2

Samples go where you tell them to go the track only triggers it.
Track has nothing to do with sound routing and it shouldn't be looked at that way.

That is a reference to the JJ os version of the direct record feature from the akai os.
If you record on those tracks you can assign them to an output , that is the only exception and it has nothing to do with your programs and pads.

it will work now, if you want to assign a track to an output in jj os just enter GPE and the OUT screen, hit WHOLE and then move the entire track's program's pads all to the specified out, 1-8 or L or R. it's more time consuming, but it works too well to really fuss that much about.

in os2 for the 1000, TRACK-->OUT is possible. ya'll will have that at around march.

Being able to globally force a program or a track doesn't do you any good if your drums are on a single track since they would all go to the same output.
If you are trying to multi track them to a DAW in a single pass you would still end up with the drums grouped.
What you should ask JJ for is the ability to be able to tap pads, hit a button and it will sequentially assign those pads choosen to the outputs.
If not that the ability to extract the notes on a sequence to individual tracks.
At least then the TRACK-->OUT would make sense.

JJ should just get a 4k and MV then he would already know all the cool features he should add.

exactly. that's why it's not the best just to have 1 or the other. the current method is great for drum tracks, where it's conceivable/probable that your drums will all be goign to diff outputs.

now, we have both, each edited from within their own mode:



1st couple tracks are "PGM" mixed tracks, 2nd set are TRACK mixed tracks

Keep in mind much of what we are saying will make it more functional has to do with JJ OS1 or OS2.

The Akai OS doesn't have a GPE mode (Global) or many of the enhancements so the Akai OS is even more manually oriented for routing.

i had this problem.

go to the mixer page -
hit F2 (L/OUT) - adjust the individual out by scrolling where it says 'ST'
(above the pad volume fader)

ps - what are akai thinking ? not putting that info in the 'manual'...
