Samples dying while recording

so now i got my machine working and of course i run into some sh1t right away. i recorded some strings from my synth through the record in. they are just as they suppose to be when i listen to them WITHOUT the drums to it, but when i start the drums and record the sample it only catches like half of it. please don't tell me it's another corrupted file

i don't think it has anything to do with the decay. if feel like the sound gets interupted because it just dissapears after like 2.2 bars. this has happened before as well and i never could locate the problem...

is it possible that this has something to do with voices?

^yeah, sounds to me like you maxed out your mpc's polyphony. Too many samples playing at once and they'll start cutting off...that's supposed to happen. You'll just have to cut back on the amount of samples in play at the same time. Try truncating some of your drum samples so they don't have an excessive tail lingering around, using up your polyphony. If you're using multi-layered drums, resampling them will allow you to use fewer samples at once
