os v0 1.22 vs. os 1.23

What up fellow beatmakers?I'm new to this forum and I'm sooo glad I found it,I was in a mpc world of my own,I only know of 1 other person in my town that has one and we're not exactly cool with each other,so it's a relief to find this...With the intro out of the way,I do have a ?...I currently have os v. 1.22 and I'm thinking about upgrading to 1.23,can anybodyfill me in on the difference or advantage to this upgrade.I doubt if I bother with jj os,it looks like too many problems....peace

Be careful that dude in your town could be one of us.

There are no real issues with the paid version of JJ OS1 and one day OS2 will be just as balanced but that wasn't your question.

As far as your question just understand that 1.23 has some important bug fixes and other improvement so yes you definitely want to be running 1.23 on your 2500.
Some of the bugs prior to 1.23 can cause you frustration and or lost of work.

It's simple to add and takes no time to install.

When you download Akai OS's they always include a txt file telling you what is fixed so once you download the OS you will be able to see what they fixed by looking at the text file on your computer.

Having tried the JJ (os1) for a while, I have gone back to Akai os now - not because I dislike JJ, but because I want to learn how to use Akai official properly before I decide whether to switch. Besides, you can't save to internal memory in the JJ os, and I would like to have some simple "emergency programs" on internal memory in case of hard disk failure.

The biggest drawback with the JJ os1 IMO is that there is no direct record function - this really is a handy feature, and it is replaced by audio tracks on JJ, but still I like the simplicity and power of recording internal (+ input thru if you like) audio, with Q-link movements and FX in recording mode.

The benefits of JJ are many - better folder/load structure and no corrupted files, global program edit (great for autocromatic programs), enhanced trim functions and added sample mangling tools, simult sequence, etc. These are things I just mention off the top of my head, there are a lot more. Besides, it looks better.

I didn't like the free JJ os 3.08 because it had a couple of annoying bugs which I don't know will be sorted.

-better sample editing
-stereo auto chopping
-no file write bugs
-audio tracks with better editing
-GLOBAL EDIT MODE
-improved/expanded Q-Link control
-note monitor
Just to name a few

As far as the saving to interanl memory JJ gave it back and we realized it was too small to save to and overwrites itself.
The input thru from the Akai OS would be missed if it was like on the MV, but it's not so it doesn't so the audio can actually work better for you.
