Before I knew about this 2500 I installed a 128Mb SODIMM which, of course, is only read to half capacity

I've found a suitable 256Mb chip but can anyone tell me if it will affect the memory allocated to seq?

Mine at 64Mb assigns 1.656Mb to seq - roughly one sixtieth.

How much is assigned when a 256Mb chip is installed? Would this increase my seq memory or does it go to wav memory?

Can someone check and let me know please.

I've got the full 128mb registering on startup ... still allocates 1656kb to seq.

Just as I thought. They're not interested in MIDI.
