Hardrive Question (2500)

OK so I think I'm ready for a Hardrive but I still have a few unanswered questions. Now this might sound stupid to certain people I dont know but I've searched and searched and couldnt really find a clear answer. First off I have learned that the MPC 2500 already has the little kit thats sold for the 1000 inside of it so basically alls I need to do it pick the correct Hardrive that suits me. Now what I wanted to know is once my Hardrive is installed how would I get all my samples inside of it? I'm guessing that It would connect via my USB port on the back and I could just drag and drop. I'm pretty sure thats how it works but if someone could clarify for me I would appreciate that. Also, what kinds of files does the Hardrive allow me to put in it? Again, I'm guessing .WAV??? like I was wondering about .RAR files and .ZIP but I'm guessing its similar to a CF card. Also, would anyone have any recommendations for a decent HD that works good? I'm thinking of getting a 80G HD and I know I wouldnt be filling it up anytime soon, I'd imagine I'd wins 6 Grammy Awards before I fill that cocksucker up so 80 should be good. If I am wrong then if anyone could help a honky out!! Thats pretty much it. Sorry for sounding ignorant but I'm at work and I'ma lose this job if I open up an investigation into HD's right now. you basically answered most of your questions yourself...
you can put any kind of file onto the mpc harddisk, but this makes no sense since the mpc can only read certain filetypes - look into your manual which filetypes these are. e.g wavefiles have to be 16bit/44.1khz and so on...
one thing you have to be certain of: the harddisk must be a 2,5inch laptop drive not the standart 3,5inch pc drives.
installing is a breeze - and also in the manual.
using the hdd is exactly like using the cf-card, but you have to be aware that the mpc interface can only access one drive at a time so there is no way to directly drag and drop files from the cf-card to the hdd since only one is active.
best way to proceed is to upgrade your os to the latest version 1.23 before installing the hdd and then format the hdd with the format option on the utility page, because if you format the hdd from windows you´ll easily get corupt files.

ok man thanks for the advice. anyone have any reccomendations for some good Hardrives that work real good? I'm thinking the Toshiba 80G one thats 75$ canadian.

when you get it installed, turn the mpc on and format the drive, otherwise the mpc wont see it.

ok i think i'm gonna go with the toshiba thing. can anyone tell me if I can still preview my samples before I load them from my hardrive like I can with my CF card? when I'm looking for drums i dont use drum programs pre-made. I actually shift through all my samples and preview them before i load them up.

alright man sorry sorry about that i missed that one! anyway thanks for your time. now I gotta long ass road ahead of me once I get this thing cause i literallyhave thousands of samples to organize and transfer over from my computer to my hardrive. I might just plug away at a hundred at a time DAMN! peace
