As weird as it may seem, After installing the CD ROM It will only accept CASSETTE TAPES!

Honestly, I don't know, but I would imagine that you could, if not you could simply convert the files.
Good Luck!

Some of them, tho very few, I think...

Don't think it'll load any stuff from the proper samplers or anything that needs keygroups...

I only have one original Akai cd of some Synclavier stuff for S1000 and that doesn't work with the 2500

that sucks. i've been told from a few dealers that one should be able to load akai sample cd's without a problem with the AKAI CD-M25. are you using it or one of the teac drives? i ordered myself a teac drive and assumed it is the same thing. i can't be the only guy with a bunch of old akai disks that would like the ability to load them up on the mpc. anyone else out there successfully doing this. the shit even workd on my buddies MV. thanks to all who have responded and respond. there are some great akai sample cd's out there. peace

Half true - you'll be able to load some, tho very few Akai Sample CDs but they pretty much have to be made for the 2500

are you using it or one of the teac drives? i ordered myself a teac drive and assumed it is the same thing.

I'm using a teac drive.

The problem has nothing to do with the drive and everything to do with the way the 2500 handles samples, programs, keygroups etc and/or converts them - basically it doesn't.

i can't be the only guy with a bunch of old akai disks that would like the ability to load them up on the mpc. anyone else out there successfully doing this. the **** even workd on my buddies MV.

You're not the only guy, you simply bought the wrong machine for the job - Hey I'd love to load some Akai, E-mu and Yamaha samples up into my mpc but I didn't buy a 4000 either... (does the 5000 do this properly?)

thanks to all who have responded and respond. there are some great akai sample cd's out there. peace

Best suggestion is to 'upgrade' to a roland mv, mpc4000 or poss a mpc5000 or just try n find some old akai, e-mu or yamaha samplers - most of them should load akai stuff over scsi

thanks for the reply.
chicken systems translator is probably the answer.
i just thought akai would've figured this out - even roland has this option

Chickens systems is def one solution - you may think Akai should've figured it out but E-mu's Emulator X and X2 had massive problems with file conversion too, even with older E-mu soundbanks etc... lol
