Filtering different sounds?

Wuts good everyone! still new to the mpc 2500 but my questions is:

Lets say you have a sample that has hornes or piano or somthing that just sounds real good, but there is unwanted drums or vocals behind it. How would you filter that shit out? help anyone?

Press MODE (should turn red)
>press program
>press F2
>press pad sample chop is on
>screen should be split into two with "type:OFF" on both sides
>select type of filter (you want to go with High Pass)
>bring the FREQ down until you can hear the sample to your liking and just tweak til you're with it.
>it's not going to be a perfect fix... but once you throw your drum break over it... bass line, etc... it'll mask the smaller sound or they'll add to the over all flavor in most cases. hopes this helps. peace.

just one small caveat.... always remember when filtering... LOW PASS (brings out the low end; bass) and HIGH PASS (brings out the high end, horns, keys, most snares...) so you kinda have to play with the filtered stuff with other sound behind it... at least that's what I do... get a nice foundation, then I tweak from there using filtered sounds to add to the spine of the beat.

Thats the beauty to sampling... Use those drums or vocals. Chop the record so that the drums hit correctly or you can even flip the vocals to make it say something different.

Using filter doesnt work that great, all it does is try and hide the sound but it will still be there.

word up! still learning that filter and i like it!

i hate the mpc's filters your better off waiting till after u track out and use a plugin filter
