12bit crunch

is it possible to downsample to 12bit to get the old akai sampler sound?

Maybe it's in the manual whether you can resample or not.


The 2500 is not made with old akai electronics so that "sound" "coloring" will not be there.

had look in the manual before but not in there.

there is an effect but not sure it sounds the same, more distortion sounds

of course it won't sound the same, it's not an old akai machine.

you could downsample on a computer first, then xfer to your mpc.

If PAD13-PAD16 is pressed, the audition of the present set point can be performed.

Notes: File size does not change after convert.

ah, so jj os it is... has anyone compared the 12bit on that to say an akai S950 - that was my other option, but the jj os would be quicker

...can't really comment on the jjos but in a nutshell pretty much every system will sound slightly different - how much that that difference is worth is your call.

Every system will colour the sound in a slightly different way on both input and output. You can push the input on a hardware sampler but can't with resampling and the 2500s filters & DACS aren't the same as the 900/950s

You also gotta keep in mind that systems deal with samples differently - one reason the old E-mu SP's sound the way they do isn't just because of the filters it's because of how, for example, they treat a sped up, pitched down sample internally, i think part of it is sample skipping... (but don't quote me on that lol)

For people that got it, it's a lot easier to spend money and ask questions later than to do research or RTM.

I think on every board I've ever been on, no matter the subject, the search feature was never utilized to its potential (judging from the repeated posts on the same topics, over and over and over).
