AKAI MPC 2500 1.25 UPDATE?????

Has anyone heard or does anyone know if Akai is making any more updates for the MPC 2500??? Because the last update (1.24) was buggy as far as the chop shop feature being real slow and I heard from others that there were a few other problems. I know that JJOS is probably where I need to be looking which is possibly my next step but for the moment I'm trying to give Akai the benifit of the doubt. I would love to see a 1.25 update, does anyone else feel me on this?

which version of JJOS do you use? Is it the most stable version out of all of them?

iam usin the " OSXL "... BUT, the most stable of them all is the " OS2 "....

yo its MAD EASY to load the JJ os's with a CF card..

you wont mess up your mpc if you try em and you can ALWAYS go back to 1.24 oem.

just try em.. start off with 3.09 free.. use it a bit. u can actually save in it.. and its not completely different from the oem OS.

Once you see the added features and how they speed up your workflow, you'll want to try the others..
you can try OS1 and OSXL too, but cant save in those unless you pay for a password. (which covers them ALL)

Not to mention if you try them all, and buy a password, then decide you like OS2 for chopping samples, but OSXL for sequencing and grid editing, etc.. you can EASILY switch OS's to suit your needs.

I am currently using JJ 3.09 free, and that is ONLY because I gotta send my 2500 off for warranty work to Akai, and dont wanna take the chance of having to pay for JJ twice(if akai replaces the Main Board in my 2500(where I "think" the Product ID is stored) but thats another story.

I believe that the 2500 + JJOS makes this MPC one the best.

But there was a point to this post: there's a forum just down the hall for JJOS. I *have* JJOS but I *choose* not to use it. I would also like to see further updates to the Akai OS for the MPC2500.

Chop Shop needs speeding up, time stretching needs to be more than guess and guess again, and FFS the shortest attack setting of 0 still has a noticeably slow attack. Its supposed to play samples back pretty much like they sounded and it doesn't do that with fast attack transients.

1.24 was a good step forward by eliminating the disk corruption on saving, but it still needs a few things tweaked.

FWIW, fanboys for JJOS are letting Akai off the hook with support for the Platinum Producer - and doesn't that sound more and more ridiculous as the 2500 slips into being legacy and unsupported. Its the fanboys who let Akai say "f*ck 'em, they can buy JJOS if they don't like it!". I like the Akai OS and suspect that more people use it than JJOS in the real world. You know, the one without the fanboys...

You're talking shite mate! Akai are not going to come to your rescue and update the os anytime soon, which gives you one of two choices. Either stick with an os which lacks features and zero updates, or move to an os which is feature rich with constant updates and bug fixes? It's a very simple decision for those who want more from their MPC.

I will continue to use Akai OS because I prefer it. It may be left a flawed masterpiece, but I will still use it. And its not because I don't know any better. You're free to use JJOS if you wish, please give me the same respect for Akai OS. Its just preferences mate, nothing to do with the quality of music that you make.

I agree, it does just come down to preference. I've been using an MP for 10 years and no Akai os comes close to what jj has done in my opinion. I love all the refinements in his os and would urge anyone with a 1k or 2500 to give it a serious try out. There may indeed be more Akai os users but the % of people going back to Akai after using jj would be tiny. That tells most people all they need to know.

This is the thing we all want to know: How many MPC2500 were made and how many users bought a version of JJ OS?

Note I said 'were made', it can't be long now before it disappears off the akaipro site ...
