Program Error on the mpc 2500

I just tried to load one of the programs I made last night and the mpc said "wrong file"

it was especially strange because it began to load the program but stopped after the first sample was loaded letting me only use pad A-1 and the sample I had assigned to it

fyi i store my programs and everything on my hard disk but recently I havent been able to load any of the programs that I spent hours making and its pretty deppressing, Do I have to create a root file or a seperate file instaed of just saving it?

The names are there and the samples are still there but the program just wont get past the first sample, sorry to bug yall but I really wanna get this fixed.

Could someone help me out with this.

i get that too... i think its a problem with my harddrive. its a toshiba 40 gig.
anyways i can get around it by saving my beats as a "entire memory" file.
if that saves ok then it will load ok. (make sure it saves ok first)
also go get your self a 500 or 1000 meg flashcard to backup your most important beats, just incase

Do you have one of the harddrives that was approved by Akai? Mine is a 40gb too but it wasent approved.

This sucks but I'll try to save the entire memory next time, thanx bro, and yeah, Im definately gonna get another flashcard to back my stuff up because this is ridiculous.

Are your samples wav's or snd files? I can only load programs made with .wav files. If I try to load up a premade program that came with a sound library I purchased, which uses .snd files, I get the Wrong File Error.

yeah mine was approved, but i got it from ebay, so it might have been thrown around a bit when it was delivered. also im from australia and its shiit hot here and im worried that the heat might be fuking it up. anyways my little routine has worked so far so and no more lost beats

Mine are all wav files. I get that message when I try to load 8-bit samples though because the mpc can only load 16-bit samples

I get the same response when I save my files to my 40GB Toshiba HD, it is a weird thing. I am now only going to save sounds and loops to the HD because it is not retrieving my programs. What a waste!! It does it even when I save entire memory. Madness I tell you!

I've also noticed that it will not overright the same files on the hard drive if they have changed. For example, if you load up a sequence and change it a little, then choose Save Entire Memory, it does not save your "new" version of your sequence like a computer would. But if you save the sequence by itself, it does overright it.

When you choose the save entire memory function....try saving this in its own folder on your hard drive.

Not a stupid question. I save a second version like that as a backup, and I have NEVER gotten an error message or lost data saving that way, mainly because the MPC automatically overrites everything in the AUTOLOAD folder every time you save, which it does not for other types of saves.

Would it be safe to save the entire memory after I do anything on the MPC? Like if I create some samples or make a program.

Alot of times Im scared to turn my mpc off because Ive lost a lot of data here lately, like 2 programs I made which I liked alot.

I've lost data by using the Save Entire Memory function. As I stated above, for whatever reason, the Save Entire Memory acts as if it's saving everything, but if you already have an old copy of your sequence saved in a folder, the MPC will not overright it with a new version. But if you save ALL SEQ AND SONGS, it does. I have no idea why this is the case, but I lost an entire beat the other night after the MPC acted like it saved. But when I booted it back up, the "old" version was still there. If I were you, I'd save several ways, as a backup system.

Thats what I usually do, I'll save my stuff 2 or 3 times before I shut it down.

just a thought, when you save entire memory isnt it just saving all audio currently in memory like samples and programs, not your sequences? is that why you have a seperate option for saving all songs and sequences? dunno
