so what's so good about the 2500?

I'm really wondering this, i'm thinking of maybe buying one. But...is it really that good?

is it that much better than the mpc4000? or is it less?

teh 4000 has more of a sampler, no?

the 2500 is basically a bigger mpc1000, no? or am i missing something?

i know people in the real world who have em but they always bought em for stupidest reason "i wanted an mpc so i bought hte newest one" not caring if it was better or not.k..

What's good about it?

The size, the feel, the build, the speed, the compatability (hdd, cf card, usb, cd), chop shop, digital in/out, 4 midi outs, tilt screen, key pad, the fact that akai will carry on making OS improvements and additions for a long while to come, sampling direct from cd, burning audio direct to cd.

Plus it only cost me £100 more than a black 1000.

Just some of the things that made me choose it over the xl or 1000

It might not seem a lot to some people but it's one of those things that you just need first hand experience of. All the minor things make a very major difference in my opinion. I'm glad i didn't get the 1k after playing on both and the xl just wasn't new enough for me interms of speed and compatability etc

yo spirez, where'd you cop that 2500? £100 more than a black 1k? i'm seeing them for £599, so the 2500 was £699?

it's like the difference between a corolla and a camry. They both get good gas milliage but one does just enuff and the other has a lil more features.

At the time i bouhgt it the 1000 was £699 on www.dv247.com. I paid £790 for mine but granted, they might have gone down since.

I have both, the 4000 to me is much better do to keymapping and the ram.
Aki.sys is amazing. I love it.

The only things that the 2500 have over the 4000 is CHop shop and more of a future.

The 4000 may or may not get a update, who knows. BUt for me it dont need one. Its a workhorse. If I had to choose it would be the 4000 at home and in the studio.

BUt the 2500 is more like a 2000 but with some much needed updates.
I like the 2500 I'm just not as juiced up on it as everyone else.
I think its because I have had the 4000 for a few years and know what it can do.

That's understandable, the 4000 is the flagship and in the UK it's £900 more than the 2500.

But then not everyone has a need for what it offers

well the 4000 does have a higher sample rate.
