Question about RAM...

hello everyone first of all! Nice informative forum... now for my 1st question.

OK so I want to upgrade the RAM on my MPC 2500. I have a bar of 512 MB 144 pin 133Mhz RAM lying around that I could use. Now I know the proper one is 256MB. What will happen if I use the 512? will the mchine even boot?

Will it read only 1/4th of it? will it damage it?

just want to know. trying to do a full upgraqde with 20GB harddrive, 128RAM CDRW and 2 Gig flash for the cheapest price possible.

Also which CDRWS are compatible with the MPC?

Do yourself a huge favor....

If you are going to spend $1600 plus on a professional tool, buy the Akai 128 MB RAM, Akai's CDM-25 CDRW/DVD Rom drive, and the tested/approved drives on Akai's website. Better yet, take the VST Service Deal which will get you a maxed out 2500 for just over $2000.

Otherwise, you will be in the forums asking why is your MPC not working as advertised.............

Just buy the same brand as the Akai tested ram ....which is the same muda fukcing ram as Apple uses .... HYNIX....dont be a sucka and pay 150 akai rips people off in every way but you gotta love em....not a love em or hate situation

well well well... I am getting something different, RAM is RAM there is nothing special about akai RAM as long as it follows the same specifications. I am sure about that... just trying to save a couple bucks, hey.

My question is regarding 512 on a slot that should have 256...

anyway.. I already bought the MPC 2500 I am just upgrading it now. Thanks.

Try out your ram ...probably works..... u never know !

Ok...have you read about how many people who own MPC 1000s on the board that has problems? In fact, what about the 2500?

Personally, I have very few issues with my 2500. Yes, I do have the Akai brand RAM...got it for $100. Sure, you can buy any RAM you want. Save $50 and buy the cheapest RAM you can find.

After you spent over $1650 on a 2500...buying RAM that cost $150 (which won't void your warranty) is not a sucka move.

yep I feel u man ..I v just had a diffrent experence .... 3rd party ram hasent caused a problem in my case.....no clicks pops ......ones or twice I ll have an issue with re-loading beats ...but I dont think that has to do with the ram....aswell never had a freeze up yet......


so what ever u do....atleast u got both sides of that ish!!

....will u tell them that u added 3rd party ram is the real question!

If you 3rd party RAM explodes in your MPC..what will you do then?
