Playing the samples using the data wheel

Yo MPC users...

On a videotutorial i saw someone using the data wheel to play the samples or drums on your memorycard.
Not one by one( like the play function in the loadscreen. )
But very fast, by turning the wheel left or right.

Does anybody know how to do this?

I dont think that is possible you may have missed what the persons other hand was doing (the one not on the data wheel)

just looked again.
This guy made a demo-video for introduction of the mpc2500.(he's from akai)
He's is really doing this!

I didn't know this funtion too. Thats why i wanna learn it.
I always checked samples fast by using Fruity loops during my beat session on the mpc.

But thanks anyway buddy, i still hope this fuction does exist.

Umm. I did this the other day, but forgot exactly how I did it.


Essentially... when you hit Play in the Load screen... it would just keep playing all samples until you stopped.. so, when you turned the data wheel, it automatically played the sample that was highlighted, without me having to press any additional buttons or change screens.


Probably was in one of the Load screen settings or something.


I'll try to recreate it when I get home tonight.

when you have chopped the beat in chopshop, just hold down any pad to listen to the first sample. continue holding and scroll with the wheel to listen to all the chops and see if that's how you want the program or patched phrase to be chopped. if not, start over. makes life MUCH easier

Yea, that's what he must be talking of.

Still, a function that maps the different slices to the pads for pre-listening would be very handy.

But same thing i saw on the 2000 xl.

there's no chopshop function on the 2000xl

And i'm 100 procent sure about the guy just using one hand,

You cant audition samples on the xl using Just the data wheel. Or can you??

This might be the dopest function i ever know.

Sounds unrealistic to me too, but i also dream of someone comes up with this function for the mpc.

But there is a Zone mode, which also slices the samples just like Chop Shop.

Ajax help me out, please! find out again how you get the data wheel
to audition the samples. i know the function is there

LOL. ****, I forgot to check that when I got home... although, I think remember where I did it..

If you put in a cd... and instead of going to the load section you go to the section that allows you to play/record the cd into the mpc (I forget the exact function, but it should be easy to find in the manual)... and you hit play... I think you can then just scroll through the sounds using the data wheel and the mpc will play each sound as soon as you scroll to it until you hit pause or stop...


I thiiiiiiink thats the way I did it... but I definitely did it, and its easy to do... I just wish I had my mpc in front of me.. I could help a bit more.. but, hopefully this will help lead you to it...
