Wrong file again...

The "wrong file!" bug is totally unacceptable for a product in that price range.

I keep losing important work because of that. It is so random, I can't replicate it, I have no idea why it happens.

AKAI have got to sort this thing out.


edit: an hour after posting this, i've just lost another program...sh*t!

Does it happen when saving the memory or when trying to load samples. How are you loading them? Through usb? cf? internal hd?

this happens when trying to load a program or sequence from the HD.

i had not reformatted the HD since updating to 1.21. i just did it, i'll see if it fixes the bug.

How are you saving? Do you usually save Entire Memory to a folder?

no, i'm saving normally, item by item. its rare i would need to save the entire memory.

i'm thinking the bug has to do with overwriting files. i'm trying saving with a different name. i'll see if it improves.

I do recall having a problem in the past with trying to same/overwrite files..so I no longer do that and save files in a new folder. It suks having to do that, but that is the safe bet for now...

When I get a "wrong file" message, it's usually because i've loaded a sample with a wrong bit-rate. However, I never lose any of my work, so I'm not sure if what we're talking about is the same thing.

But why don't you take the advantage of just saving Entire Memory? It's much quicker, easier, you're sure you don't miss something, and have your single PGM and SEQ files and samples still available as individual files.

Just don't forget to PURGE. Anything that's not assigned to a pad, I usually don't need. But that's just me, you may be different.

Yes, if you have a lot of unused samples. What can be helpful too (also against the Wrong File bug) is occasionally saving all the stuff into a new folder, with a number or date appended to the folder name. After you purged/cleaned up your memory of course.

I get that message somtimes when loading samples via usb. With me the problam was the file name. You can't tranfer files with underscores or dashes. Ex: james_brown_samp or james-brown-samp.

Have you ever tried loading an individual program w/ samples from a folder that you saved the Entire Memory to? Doing this, I received the wrong file error from time to time.

I hate that shyt I wish AKAI would just man up and fix the whole thing about saving and loading ANYTHING.... to me thats the worst glitch.

****, i hate it, im loosin so much time for this bug, its crazy!
It happens to me everytime i transfer/backup something on my mac via usb, or when i load em back to the mpc.
i will try to notice if it has something to do with the names as someone pointed out.
But the **** always happens a few hours before a live set....
what if i get an internal HD instead? will the file transfers go better or what?
anyway its the only real bug that is really botherin me now, cmon akai...fix it!!!

uhm any news? does anybody know if this bug will be fixed with a new os? is there a new os in progress?
